After School

The first years of school shape a child’s lifelong emotional and intellectual development.

MARC’s After School program works to achieve significant, demonstrable and positive impact on children in their earliest years, helping them become lifelong learners, through:

  • Homework assistance from certified teachers, along with tutoring in a wide range of subjects so that children learn and appreciate math, the arts, reading, and culture.
  • Activities that complement the curriculums at local schools.
  • Summer trips to parks, bowling alleys and skating rinks, along with weekly visual arts instruction from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and monthly museum trips.
  • Literacy activities such as journaling, book clubs, and letter-writing projects.
  • Creative arts and theater projects.
  • Free eye exams and dental checkups.
  • Nutritious school meals nutrition workshops.
  • Social skills and behavioral enrichment through our work with the Talking Drums organization, which helps children learn conflict resolution strategies by creating poems, stories, plays or using other artistic mediums.

Students in the program show demonstrated increases in academic and intellectual skills, as well as in interpersonal, self management and social skills.

Our After School program runs Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the summer.
